I recently visited Canby Area Transit to take inventory of the technology on their buses. This is part of Access Tech’s larger Technology Implementation Project where we have partnered with Sandy Area Metro to manage all technology on their fleet of buses; this includes Clackamas, South Clackamas, Hood River, Wilsonville, the City of Sandy, and Canby. During my time in Canby, I was met with outstanding support from Heidi Muller, the transit coordinator at Canby.

Heidi exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated and effective transit coordinator, setting a gold standard for her agency. Her assistance was invaluable as she accompanied me on various routes, ensuring that I could inventory their buses in one trip. She even turned on the buses to provide air conditioning while I worked – a testament to her thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

Beyond her logistical support, Heidi’s connection with her team and community is truly remarkable. She greets drivers on the road with a friendly wave, knows locals by name at the mechanic shop, and has a rappor with their dispatch staff reminiscent of a close-knit family. Her ability to maintain and build these relationships with such warmth and efficiency is a testament to her leadership.

Thanks to Heidi’s expertise and thorough understanding of the technology on their buses, we wrapped up the inventory much earlier than anticipated. She knew exactly where every piece of technology was located and could identify which ones were working and which needed attention. Her technical knowledge is as impressive as her dedication to her community.
